VIA (Values in Action) is a framework for understanding and identifying character strengths. This approach to understanding human nature and behavior has been gaining popularity in recent years, particularly as it relates to finding meaning and purpose in life.

VIA character strengths focus on what is good and strong about individuals, rather than on their weaknesses or shortcomings. The framework includes 24 character strengths, such as creativity, bravery, kindness, and love, among others.
One of the reasons why VIA and character strengths are a good starting point for finding meaning and purpose is that they focus on what is unique and positive about each individual. By identifying and focusing on our character strengths, we can build confidence and self-esteem, as well as increase our sense of well-being and purpose.
Moreover, identifying our character strengths can help us identify activities and pursuits that align with our values and bring us fulfillment. When we engage in activities that utilize our character strengths, we feel a sense of meaning and purpose that goes beyond simple pleasure or enjoyment.
As a Coach, I believe the VIA framework and character strengths provide a valuable starting point for finding meaning and purpose in life. By identifying our unique strengths and aligning our activities and pursuits with those strengths, we can build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of fulfillment. Whether used in a personal or professional context, VIA and character strengths can help individuals and groups unlock their full potential and find greater meaning and purpose in life.
